Terms of Service

Effective: 16 September 2026

These Terms govern use of The Africa Yearbook Community (“TAYC”) website, membership, resources, events and community services. TAYC is a professional community for people who create, preserve and celebrate school memories across Africa.

1. Membership and eligibility

Membership is currently free and renewable annually. Members must provide accurate information and use TAYC services lawfully and respectfully. A permanent membership number identifies the member record; annual renewal extends active membership and may generate a new certificate.

2. Community conduct

Members and visitors must follow the TAYC Community Guidelines. Harassment, unlawful discrimination, impersonation, spam, deceptive promotion, abuse, harmful content, and unauthorized disclosure of confidential or personal information are prohibited. TAYC may moderate participation and suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect the community.

3. Schools, students and safeguarding

Do not submit confidential school records, sensitive student information, or identifiable content involving children unless you have the authority and permissions required by applicable law and school policy. Participation in TAYC does not replace a school’s safeguarding, consent, privacy or records-management responsibilities.

4. Content and intellectual property

You retain rights you hold in content you submit. By voluntarily submitting material for publication or community participation, you grant TAYC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and communicate that material for operating and promoting the community, subject to applicable law. You must have the right to submit the material. TAYC branding, original resources and site content remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law.

5. Resources, events and third parties

Educational resources and community discussions are provided for general information and professional development. They are not legal, financial or other regulated professional advice. Third-party services, speakers and links may have separate terms and privacy practices.

6. Availability and changes

TAYC may improve, change, pause or discontinue features, events or membership benefits. We do not promise uninterrupted availability. Material changes to these Terms will be posted here with an updated effective date.

7. Disclaimer and responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, TAYC services are provided on an “as available” basis. TAYC is not responsible for independent statements or conduct of members, schools, speakers or third parties. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Governing framework and disputes

TAYC is administered from Lagos, Nigeria. These Terms are governed by applicable laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without preventing users from relying on mandatory protections that apply to them in their own jurisdiction. We encourage good-faith resolution of concerns by contacting TAYC before formal proceedings.

9. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be sent to hello@tayc.me.

Practical legal baseline: These terms are intended as operating guardrails for the community and should be reviewed by qualified counsel as TAYC expands activities, partnerships, paid services or country-specific operations.
